Pieter-Jan Van de Walle is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Degroof Petercam Investment Banking (Belgium).

He started his career as an M&A and Intellectual Property lawyer at Simmons & Simmons and Innogenetics (a Belgian pioneering biotech company, now part of Fujirebio) and has over 15 years of experience in investment banking. First at ING where he started in Equity Capital Markets (mainly biotech IPOs, real estate rights issues, and the USD 10bn rights issue by AB InBev following the acquisition of Anheuser Busch by InBev) and worked on Monitoring Trustee assignments on behalf of the Directorate-General Competition of the European Commission (e.g., Suez/Gaz de France, Abbott/Solvay, Western Digital/Hitachi) after which he became Head of M&A MidCorporates (small and midcap sell-side M&A). Then he joined BNP Paribas CIB where - as a Managing Director - he led mid and large-cap M&A origination and execution in a broad range of sectors for Corporates, Family Businesses and Financial Sponsors.

Pieter-Jan holds a master’s degree in Law and a postgraduate degree in Economics from the University of Ghent and an MBA from Vlerick.
